Licensing

Overview

The Licensing section displays the Machine SID, synchronizes the local installation with the MSPControl licensing service, accepts manually supplied license files, and shows the active quotas.

Get a license

After First Setup, the installation should have at least a Free License. The Get License area displays the Machine SID used when issuing, purchasing, or upgrading a license. The license is bound to the Machine SID of the Enterprise Server and is stored locally in the MSPControl database.

Do not change the Machine SID after installation. A different SID can invalidate an issued license.

Synchronize the license

Use Sync License to retrieve the current license from the MSPControl licensing service and apply it to the local installation. Synchronize after changing quotas, adding seats, or making another licensed-capacity change.

Synchronizing a license does not stop MSPControl services.

Upload a license file

Use Upload License for restricted or offline environments:

Select Choose File.
Choose the valid license file supplied for this installation.
Select Upload.
Open License Quotas and verify the expected limits.

Detach a license

Use Detach License to unbind the license from the current MSPControl installation.

Licensing service availability

Online licensing functions connect to https://mspc.virtuworks.net:443 over HTTPS.

If the licensing service is unavailable, the license already stored in the MSPControl database remains valid until the expiration date encoded in that license. MSPControl can continue operating without Internet access during that period. Use the manual upload workflow when the installation is intended to remain offline.

Verify the result

The Machine SID matches the value used to issue the license.
License synchronization completes without an error.
License Quotas show the purchased resources.
The current plan name matches the expected Free, Starter, Business, or Enterprise plan.
