Configure Veeam backup reporting

MSPControl can collect and report backup data from Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam for Microsoft 365. Configure the connection for a customer organization, let the Windows Agent apply the settings to the managed device, and then verify the reported backup state.

Confirm that:

  • the customer organization has the Devices and Device Backup Report quotas;
  • the operator has permission to view backup reports;
  • a Windows device in the organization is connected through the MSPControl Windows Agent;
  • the device can reach the Veeam data source that you intend to configure.

Changing an organization’s Veeam settings also requires the Device Backup Settings Override quota. This is separate from report access so that an organization can receive backup reporting without allowing its configuration to be changed.

Configure Veeam Backup & Replication reporting

Section titled “Configure Veeam Backup & Replication reporting”
  1. Open the customer organization in MSPControl.
  2. Go to Backups > Veeam Backups Settings.
  3. Enable Veeam Backup & Replication reporting.
  4. Enter the Veeam database server and database name.
  5. Select Windows-integrated authentication or SQL authentication. If you select SQL authentication, enter the database credentials.
  6. Review the policy thresholds for last-seen time, recovery point objective, restore points, and valid backup copies.
  7. Save the settings.

The settings are sent to the managed device through the Windows Agent. An offline device keeps its previous configuration until it reconnects and processes the command.

Configure Veeam for Microsoft 365 reporting

Section titled “Configure Veeam for Microsoft 365 reporting”
  1. Open Backups > Veeam Backups Settings for the customer organization.
  2. Enable Veeam for Microsoft 365 reporting.
  3. Enter the Veeam API URL and the account credentials used for reporting.
  4. Save the settings.
  5. Allow the managed device to receive and apply the updated configuration.

MSPControl uses the configured API connection to collect Veeam for Microsoft 365 job, session, object, and log information.

  1. Return to Veeam Backups Settings and review the last connection result for the configured source.
  2. If the connection succeeds, open Backups > Veeam Backups for the organization.
  3. Confirm that the expected jobs, sessions, objects, or restore points appear.
  4. Use Force Full Sync when you need the managed device to perform a complete refresh rather than wait for the next regular collection cycle.
  5. For a multi-customer view, open the Veeam backup dashboard.

Backup results distinguish success, warning, and failure. Investigate persistent warnings as well as failures: a warning means that the operation did not complete cleanly.
