SharePoint

MSPControl manages three separate SharePoint products. They appear as different menu groups, are provisioned by different resource groups, and do not share sites or storage.

Menu group Product Provisioned by
SharePoint SharePoint Server, standard edition, hosted on the operator’s infrastructure SharePoint Server resource group
SharePoint Server SharePoint Server, enterprise edition SharePoint Enterprise Server resource group
SharePoint Online Microsoft 365 SharePoint, in the customer’s tenant Microsoft Online Services resource group

The quickest signal is the menu. Beyond that:

  • Hosted SharePoint needs no Microsoft tenant. Sites live on the operator’s servers and storage is drawn from a quota in the hosting plan.
  • SharePoint Online requires a configured Microsoft tenant and licensed users. Storage is the tenant’s, governed by Microsoft’s licensing rather than a hosting quota.
  • Cloud Folders — a different file-sharing product, frequently confused with SharePoint
  • Microsoft 365 — tenant-level configuration
