SharePoint

MSPControl manages three separate SharePoint products. They appear as different menu groups, are provisioned by different resource groups, and do not share sites or storage.

An organization can have more than one

Nothing prevents a customer having hosted SharePoint and SharePoint Online at once, and the menu groups then sit next to each other with similar names. Check which group you are in before following a procedure — a site created in one is invisible to the other.

Which one does this organization have?

The quickest signal is the menu. Beyond that:

• Hosted SharePoint needs no Microsoft tenant. Sites live on the operator’s servers and storage is drawn from a quota in the hosting plan.
• SharePoint Online requires a configured Microsoft tenant and licensed users. Storage is the tenant’s, governed by Microsoft’s licensing rather than a hosting quota.
